CanChris Brown's Bad Pub Affect Sales?
They say in the entertainment industry there is no such thing as bad publicity. This is especially true of the hip-hop generation, where a jail cell can mean record sales. Case in point is currently Chris Brown and his new release called, Graffiti.
Still reeling from his very public confrontation with ex-girlfriend Rhianna, Brown's sales are rumored to have suffered a hit. According to www.billboard.com, Graffiti is currently #1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, #3 on the Digital Albums chart and #7 on the Billboard 200 chart. Not bad, so far.

TWO LEFT FEET IN THE DARK
Sometimes it's better to stumble into things then it is to overwork an angle that keeps putting up roadblocks. Some people call this luck. I for one do not believe in luck. Luck... which I prefer to call "Results" happens when you execute action, and keep on executing it until you get your desired "Result ". This often feels like your beating your head up against a wall because it often takes repeated failure after to finally accomplish something worthwhile.
There's a lot to be said for persistence. The unwillingness to give up was perfectly summed up by noted author James Allen when he wrote, " the strength of character gained will be the true measure of your success." It's like landing your first KICKFLIP. WOW... what a rush! Because it doesn't happen until after you pay your dues and suffer a lot of pain. There is no short-cut to success.
Hip Hop Don't Make Cents
Today I listened to the radio for the first time in almost a year and I was so disgusted. Shit radiated through my car speakers and oozed into my ears. Not wanting to give up on the radio I kept listening. Every once in awhile they would play a good tune or two but then it was back to shit for the next hour or so. Now I’m not going to jump on the band wagon and cry about how “hip hop is dead” because it’s not.
There are those out there that still embody true hip hop, such as, Common, Mos Def, Drake, Slum Village…etc. Even as the times change they remain true to hip hop; staying grounded in their roots but taking hip hop to another level. There are those that come out trying to claim that they are hip hop. Releasing commercial crap and trying to pass it off as music. Catchy hooks with no lyrical content. Maybe they lost sight of their roots to the sight of the bling or maybe the reason they fell in love with hip-hop in the first place was to make that all mighty dollar.
Truth be told I ain’t mad at them. I understand everybody wants to get paid, but please…rappers please take the time to remember the roots. Remember when the music had lyrical content…when the fans could close their eyes to the beat dropping, with their heads rocking, allowing the flow to take their imagination on a ride. That to me is the essence of hip-hop. The day I can turn on the radio and hear the fresh beat of various hot hip hop joints for an hour and a shit tune or two every once in awhile, will be a great day.

A POOR MAN’S REGISTRATION IS MERELY A POOR CLAIM.
What is a Poor Man’s registration?
Placing documents and/or contents of your musical work (sound recording, composition and/or artwork) into a sealed stamped envelope and mailing it back to yourself. Many people believe that by not opening the envelope when its returned back to them, that the US postage registered date on the outside of the envelope actually provides proof and record that they are the true owner of the musical work.
